The week started with a brand new concrete lorry rolling up with a full load of concrete, so all systems go for the second and final pour.
Paul and Jim quickly put the finishing touches to the garage retaining wall so that all attention can turn to the house for the next few weeks. Despite how tall this wall is, it's still not up to the full height yet!

The scaffolders popped in to put up another piece of the scaffold so the roof can come off and Jim and Paul had a good old tidy up, finishing off all the little job's, like the steps up to the back parking area.
Tyler (aka "Bonnie") is now back on site after his travels around Asia and two weeks of isolation! Rob (aka "Why I Man") also joined the team to get the roof and chimney demo done in double quick time.
Two days later and the roof was completely gone.

Now for the real destruction as the walls that are no longer wanted are taken down. I was amazed at how quickly this stage got done and surprised at how horrible it made me feel. I am really looking forward to turning a corner at the end of next week when we can (hopefully) start putting our lovely home back together again.
All this knocking down burns serious calories, so we made sure the team's strength was kept up with a constant supply of sweet and savoury treats.
By Friday the guys has made huge progress.
The photo's below really starts to give an idea of the wonderful sight line we are creating from the dining room at the back of the house through to the snug at the front of the house and the amazing estuary views.
Then for another Friday Night lockdown virtual dinner with "The Binster's". This week I got to pick the Menu. I decided to go for an Italian theme. We started with Arancini Balls, a homage to our good friend Phil who will go down in history for mistakingly ordering 12 Arancini Ball starters (each portion had three balls) for 6 people, costing a whopping £68 at Rojano's in Padstow. I chose Lasagne for the main served with a simple salad and homemade garlic bread as this was the first dish I ever cooked or Tim and it is now, his, Tasha's and Tylers favourite. We finished off with Afogato for dessert, because I LOVE it. If it is on a menu I just have to have it, even if I am completely stuffed.
Tim and I crept back to the house over the weekend, to pick up all the roof debris (bits of tiles etc. where they ripped the roof off) from the grass so we can get it mowed as it's becoming overgrown. While we were there we had a good mooch around taking in just how much the guys had done and try to get a feel of the space we will end up with. While we were there we also had a play around measuring out the kitchen island size and position.
