It's the BIG week.....

The Dunlins, get's its second half this week.

YES, the upstairs and the roof get's started this week. We are SUPER excited and praying that the weather is kind to us, we don't get any rain and most of all, no wind, as Paul and Jim will be off-loading and putting in place some pretty hefty steels and joists.

Last week (week 25) was super slow. Not only was the weather horrible, Paul had lots of ordering, calling of engineer's and suppliers to do and Jim had the site to clear and get ready for this week.

On Thursday/Friday, however, they decided that they would start the staircase, much to my joy and excitement.

By end of Friday they were pretty much done with the first half. This will mean a shorter ladder to the second floor, which for someone like me that doesn't like heights, brings me even more joy.

Don't be shocked, it's a bit of an "ugly duckling" at the moment!

Although we don't have oodles of space, my inspiration was the picture in the middle of my mood board below. Our's will be similar to this, but adapted to the space we have available and the overall look I am going for:

The Bathrooms are also still very much on my mind, particularly what shape of free standing bath for our master bathroom:

I really need to get cracking and get the bathroom furniture ordered. I have been working with a bathroom supplier (who kindly did the 3D's below)von designs, but when I got their quote through I nearly fell off my chair, the costs were ridiculous. I am not willing to compromise on my design or quality, so I am currently looking at personal sourcing them directly.

The ground floor master bath will be something along these lines:

And, the downstairs guest bathroom will be something along these lines:

I have also been thinking about the upstairs lounge fireplace which will be a DRU double sided gas fire:

I think the side that faces the stairs and study we will keep very simple like the image above (this is the actual DRU fireplace we are having), but for the lounge side I want something a little more cosy, particularly for Christmas time. I am thinking something with a mantle and also a Frame TV above, similar to this one below:

Well that's it for this week. I need to get out and get supplies to make snacks for our building team and our big day. Promise I will take lots of photo's and maybe the odd video.

In the meantime, if you don't do so already, you can follow the build via my Instagram @thedunlins where I post little snippets of our build every day.

Wish us luck for the big day and stay safe everyone X

Just wanted to say how much we liked your potato salad. I can see it becoming a standard! Thanks so much. x
